Finding Work in Sweden

The Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) offers several types of support for jobseekers who want to find a job quickly. Support can be anything from recruitment meetings to tips about the way to write a job application, to reconfiguring a workplace for people with special needs. This all depends on the jobseekers situation and background.
Jobseekers can register their CV at arbetsformedlingen.se, search through available vacancies, subscribe to job advertisements etc. There are employment counsellors at the customer service desk who answer questions via telephone and e-mail, and offer help and support for writing a CV or preparing for an employment interview.
About 490,000 people who were registered at the Public Employment Service were able to obtain some kind of employment during 2009. They have a clear mandate to give special support to people with a weak status in the labour market, such as newly arrived immigrants, young people, people on longterm sick leave and people with reduced mobility that leads to reduced work capacity.
