Residency and VISA's

Obtaining the right to live and work in Sweden is relatively easy, especially if you are coming from within the EU. For short visits to Sweden of less than three months, EU nationals do not require entry visas.
People from within the EU and EEA must hold a passport or identity card to enter Sweden and are required to apply for a residence permit for stays of longer than three months. You can download the EU member Residency Application Form 140011 - here.
EU nationals have the right to live and work in Sweden without a visa or work permit, but must register with the Swedish Migration Board, Migrationsverket , within three months of arrival. All foreign nationals who stay in Sweden for more than three months are required to apply for a residence permit.
Those who are not in paid employment must demonstrate that they have sufficient means to support themselves in Sweden without resorting to public funds. A retired foreign national must have an income which is at least equivalent to the Swedish pension or around 6,850 SEK per month.
Foreign nationals who are taking up employment in Sweden are required to include an employment certification form (available on the Swedish Migration Board website) completed by their employer, together with details of the type of work, duration of their employment contract and their hours of work.
Self-employed foreign nationals must provide evidence of their self-employed status such as their company's certificate of registration or tax card. EU nationals are entitled to apply for permanent residency after living for five years in Sweden. For nationals of other countries, different rules apply.
If you are from a non-EU country, please check with your nearest Swedish embassy or the Swedish Migration Board about visas and regulations for working in Sweden.
